A ban on phones is a ban on our rights
Rather surprisingly, the headmaster of our school made the decision to ban mobile phones from the school last Monday. You cannot use one – heck, you must not even carry your daily driver with you. No wonder why the pupils have reacted in a rather negative way to the decision.
All the students decided to express their dissatisfaction with the solution by not coming to classes at all on Friday. That move left the teachers alone in empty classrooms – the students hope that their action will trigger a change. While at least some of us agree that we need not use mobile phones during the classes, according to the majority of us, it is rather unwise to ban the devices altogether. What if a student feels bad and needs to tell their parents to get them to hospital?
As far as my personal opinion on the issue is concerned, I stand by the viewpoint shared by the majority of the students – while we truly do not need the phones during classes, we do need the devices between them.
We have yet to find out about the final decision the school authorities are to make. If they do not lift the ban, we are ready to take more measures to express our opinion about their recent decision.

The young and their fascination with showbiz celebs
It is by no means a new phenomenon that the young are fascinated with celebrities created by show business. However, in recent years the trend has become even more apparent – more and more young people seem to be following the alluring lives of show business celebrities. What could be the reason for that?
There could be many sources for such a state of affairs. The most common of which seems to be an urge of young people to become famous, too, which leads them to follow TV stars. What seems dramatic about this issue is its potential detrimental effect, as evidenced by what happened to Mark.
Mark used to be one of the young folks who were fascinated with celebrities spawned by show business. Unfortunately for him, as it would eventually turn out, he wanted to become one so badly that he lost control over his personal life. Wanting to be famous and popular, he gave up on the majority of his social interactions in order to step into the world of fame. Not only did he not reach his goal, but he lost many friends.
The story of Mark goes to show that the path of show business celebrities is extremely difficult and unreasonable to take, especially at a young age. If the starts align, one might become famous without such drastic measures, yet more often than not, pursuing fame does more harm than good.

It’s summertime – it’s work time!
What do we associate summer with? More often than not, we instantly project a lovely image of a beach, fancy drinks and fabulous time when we hear that term. You may be surprised, but there are teenage girls that choose to work during the holiday season rather than rest.
What by and large pushes them to work when their friends are out having a great time is the willingness to make money and have a position to fill in their resume with. Those are usually girls that see things in the long term rather than in terms of the nearest future.
I would like you to meet Sarah, one of my friends, who lives in this exact way. Once summer comes, she starts working as a waitress. According to her, this is the best training she can get, and she enjoys the job, too. When I asked her whether she felt that she was losing time working when their friends were out sunbathing, she replied that she didn’t feel that way.
I see where Sarah is coming from – nowadays, experience is immensely valuable. One mustn’t forget to relax every once in a while though. And this is what summer is truly made for.
